DEMO!

Hey guys, finally it has arrived.

The holy demo! (Thankyou, thankyou!)

It is just a demo, and obviously, still at its early stages, but here is a list of what Samus can do:

4 beams, just press the key: '1' to change (Although once you get to the last beam, you cant change back) Just press 'Z' to shoot

Bombs, just press 'Z' while in a morphball, and you can bomb jump!

Speed Booster! With some very nice effects.

Note: An updated version will come out soon enough, with Power Grip etc.

Remember, just a TEST LEVEL!

  1. Good engine, I'm impressed so far.

    #1 I dislike megaupload. It has an annoying wait and annoying adds. Please use a better download service. (Mediafire perhaps?)

    #2 So far it appears that beams just stack linearly. You probably have a lot or work to do making each individual possible beam combination.

    #3 You use the Zero Mission sprite, yet the attack types are very specific to the Fusion Suit. Only the Fusion Suit arm cannon has the excess energy discharge. (Which btw, actually does additional damage at melee range IIRC.) At least be consistent on which suit you use.

    #4 The triple shot beam is a bit lame. It's decent I suppose, but something more interesting such as the Spazer Beam or Wide Beam from Super or Fusion would probably be better.

    #5 The charging color never changes regardless of the beam. That's something to fix eventually.

    #6 While aiming up or down diagonal, pressing the arrow key in the opposite direction while still holding the button should switch the angle. (Similar to how it was done in Fusion.) But, since the control layout for aiming is very intuitive so far, that is hardly an important feature.

    #7 Bomb jumping is INCREDIBLY easy. Normally I'm not one to complain about that kind of thing, but it's a bit ridiculous. The biggest problem is that you don't have horizontal bomb jumping physics yet, so essentially Samus can just fly with no difficult. (Any explosion launchers her straight up without taking angle into account, so you can just slowly bomb jump to the side.)

    #8 Speed Boost is buggy. Sometimes it doesn't work. Especially if you boost in one direction and then turn around and run the other way it won't activate. Jumping seems to fix it.

    #9 No shinespark or shine ball yet.

    #10 If it's the Fusion Suit or an evolution of it, then I miss Power Grip. Otherwise, please at least make Power Grip a findable item. (Possible explanation could be that after they removed Samus' suit they rebuilt/reverse engineered it back into the Power Suit from the Fusion Suit while keeping the downloading capabilities. I would still love to see the arm claws added to the sprite if that is the case though.)


    Wall jumping, shooting, charging, etc all seem nice. I don't mean to be a drag and I know this is a very very early demo. I'm just commenting on what I think can be improved in hopefully a constructive way.

  2. Thankyou Dragonheart91. You have been loyal to this site since comments started to pop-up, and you have been very consistent with your comments, so I can take a lot away from it.

    As I said in the description and you mentioned here, it is still an early demo, and I understand what you mean for the problems you see, but I was just eager to get a demo out there for everybody.

    There are still updates to come, so be patient with problems that stand out, but I thankyou for pointing them out, and hopefully they will be fixed by the next demo update. :)
