New Sprites Soon

In the coming days, I will be adding Gravity, and hopefully Zero suit sprites for Samus. Then I'm going to add some more enemies to play around with.

I am not making any rooms at the moment, as something always goes wrong with Game Maker after I make them, so when all the Samus sprites are 100% done, I will start making rooms, and Zero, Power, Varia and Gravity aren't the only Samus suits. I'm adding a Hyper Suit, which I don't know what the abilities will be or the colour. Anybody want to help me out?

Cheers guys

  1. I'm partial to Green/Gold color scheme. The powers of the suit depend on the context of how you get it, what type of enemies your using it against, and what the environmental theme is.

  2. Hyper Suit?

    ..

I agree with Dragonheart. The suits abilities are really determined by the location. Resistance to Extreme Cold? Well, if Samus is dealing against elements in game (such as wind and or earth(how about lightning?)), the suit gives you resistance to the element. They could be bonuses that you don't need to beat the game, hidden in corners.

Maybe for other upgrades, faster charging?

What if you had unique beam combos in game? Such as if you turn off the wave beam, while having the ice and charge on. When you shoot walls, it forms ice crystals you can stand on, allowing you to climb walls. Of course, with the spiderball and or bomb jumping, space jump, the tactic is rendered moot. Also, super heated walls, the crystal will melt.

If you only have wave and fire, it makes a flamethrower.

Or.. What if you put hacking into the game? Hacking into doors, robotic enemies, etc. (Look up and play Iji if you haven't already)

There's also shields you could make, such as -
Have the wind, fire and charge beam equipped. Squat with powerbombs selected, and then Samus will generate a high velocity wind shield around her. If an enemy strikes Samus, it shoots out fire. (the shield costs a powerbomb)

  4. I did always like the shields in Super Metroid. I wouldn't mind seeing those come back in a new game. You could have all kinds of fun with shields and beam combinations.

  5. Have any of you guys played Metal Arms? I couldn't find a picture on Google, but in it you can find shields, and they are pretty much a ball surrounding the player. I have considered doing that, as I think they are visually better looking than the Super Metroid shields, but perhaps instead of finding them, they can be created the same way as in Super Metroid. What do you think?

  6. The animation for the shields is unimportant. As long as they are created and used in a similar method to Super Metroid, I'm happy.

  7. Mm... I prefer The Sonicesk shields personally. (The Ball type) The problem with the SM shields was that they didn't last long, and weren't very useful. (Samus's Gun was always more than enough. And I've beaten SM more times than I can count on both hands.)
But hey, either way I'd be happy! More moves = more fun. (especially if they are useful)

  8. I think creating ball shields would be best, and rather then using combo's as such from Samus' gun, you just find it and it either appears around Samus or you have to load it on.
Perhaps having an inventory type of ability would be good, and finding items such as Shields could be kept in the inventory until the player wants to use them? Thoughts?
