Why No Screenshots :( :( :( :(

Arr! Nup, no screenshots yet...

I'm still in the middle of adding 'Samus' sprites. The two 100% fully completed suits are Power and Gravity. I am in the middle of adding Varia and Hyper sprites, but, I already have code in play for the Varia suit, but Game Maker does not recognise it and displays an "ERROR" message because most of the sprites aren't there...if that makes sense?

It is taking so long to complete the remaining suits because when I add each sprite, some of the frames are 'off balance' and the end result of the animated sprite is the sprite jumping from side to side or something. It then takes me a while to get the frames all in the same spot so it isn't moving around. I have to do this for each sprite.

Because of this, I will not post again on this blog for a while until I find a way to get around this quicker, or complete all of the sprites. It is a long process. Bear with me.

I know I've made some promises to post a demo or screenshots or something, and I constantly have a new excuse as to why I haven't posted them. I am sorry, but I am working hard. I'm definitely no genius in creating games, and am only making this game for my love of Metroid, not my love in game-making. Please, bear with me and stay supportive. If you need your 'Game-Maker Metroid fix' - head over to AM2R :) It's really cool, and definitely worth a visit!

  1. I know EXACTLY what you're going through, it's happened to me many, many times. Well it's good to hear your not slacking anyway :P
I visit both your site and AM2R regularly :) AM2R is amazing but it's a much bigger project than yours >.>

  2. OMG it's so annoying! Just looking at the spreadsheets I know which one's are going to 'jump'. What makes it worse is the time it takes to fix it.

AM2R is amazing. Some very good fan-game developers are behind it and are doing an awesome job. I've played the game many times.

  3. If you want you can send me the sprite sheets, tell me which ones you need animated and I could send you the gif back? I have a lot of time on my hands :P

  4. Yeah...maybe...
It would be very helpful as it would speed up the process, I just don't know if I would feel right doing it. I feel I may become too lazy if I did send it to you and may end up making only x% of the game and then be regretting it. Your offer stays on the table, however, if interested I would be more than happy to have you on the team?

  5. Really? I would love to if you'll have me :) I'll be a Spriter then, since I'm rubbish at coding. It's a pleasure to work with you.

  6. Sure thing :) If you could email me your address, (my email should be in the description or something, if not just post your email here) and then I'll see what sprites I have to do and I'll send a few things to you :)
Having another spriter will surely please my coders :) Sometimes im not talking to them for a long while cos I have nothing to give them! Makes me feel bad...

    Anyway, welcome aboard!

  8. OK Cheers for the help (with the E-mail). I live in England and we had Christmas on the 25th December :) Anyway I'll probably just send them all together, so you're not flooded with E-mails :P
Btw do all the sprites need to be the same size? Cus I will have to edit the ones I've done so far...
