The story, the items, all the stuff you need

Sorry guys, I left out the most important part!!

And thanks to Dragonheart91 for pointing this out :P

Anyway, the
story of my Metroid game: It follows Fusion, and after Samus has wiped out all the X-Parasites and destroyed planet SR388.
The Galactic Federation have arrested Samus and taken her aboard and are holding her captive, to have her punished in some way for the damage she has made. She is stripped of her suit, and is made powerless.
While onboard, Samus discovers the Galactic Federation's plans with the universe, and right then, she knows she has got to escape.
Samus is soon on the run, all while trying to save the universe, yet there are discoveries to be made that not even the famous Samus Aran can be unshaken from.

And here are the list of
items that you will be able to eventually collect:

Beam: Charge, Spazer, Ice, Wave, Plasma

Bombs: Normal, Power, Inferno

Missiles: Normal, Super, Power

Misc
: Morphball, High Jump, Speed-booster, Grapple Hook, Screw Attack, Speed Ball, Space Jump, Spider Ball

Suits: Power, Varia, Gravity, Hyper

P.S: I will upload some cool new pictures soon!

  1. #1 While in captivity do they manage to get her to remove her suit and she starts unarmed and has to do some sneaking at the start, or are they forced to somehow imprison her with her suit still on. (Being unable to remove it without her co-oporation or killing her.) You would probably need a plausible explanation for why they don't simply choose to execute her if she refuses to remove her suit. In either case, this easily explains the removal of her power ups at the start.

#2 Calling it "Grapple Hook" leads me to believe that you may be using some of the new type functions that the Prime series made use of. This pleases me if it is true.

#3 Fire Bombs, Power Missiles, Speed Ball, and Hyper Suit sound interesting. Adding a fire element to Samus' arsenal could create interesting puzzles.

#4 What kind of easter eggs and special abilities will be included? Things such as moon walking, charge bombs, charged power bomb shields, other fun things from Super Metroid and Power Grip.

#5 I assume we are continuing with the suit from Fusion, so she would probaly have limited energy absorbing abilities maintained and automatic Power Grip. I'll miss the X parasites, but I understand if that isn't the direction you want the story to go in. Even so, nods to the fact taht she is now using the Fully Powered Fusion Suit instead of just her normal Power Suit might be fun.

More later, and I have a fun idea for missiles if you wish.

  2. Thanks dragonheart91, just to clear some things up, which I will edit on the last post I made,

YES she does start without a suit, and the 'plans' the Galactic Federation I have in mind are actually quite interesting even to myself.

I havent actually played the Prime series, but from images the grapple hook looks pretty cool, and I might go with it.

To explain #3, when the Fire Bomb's explode, the fire pans out along the ground, killing any creatures in its path; the length of the fire is not decided yet.

Power Missiles are basically missiles with the Power Bombs blast

Speed Ball I really like, but activating the Speed Ball I am confused myself as to how I will do it (ideas would be really helpful!) I forgot to add it, but there is also a Spider Ball.

And finally, Samus after regaining powers, starts with her regular Power Suit, and the Hyper Suit is very similiar to the Fusion suit in looks, but has some interesting elements with only some decided.

Please, tell me your idea for the missiles, because any opinion is REALLY helpful.

  3. Power Missiles should probably have a smaller area of effect than Power Bomb especially since they will likely deal more damage. Also consider using a missile charge functionality for Power Missiles. I found that to be one of my favorite features from Fusion.

What I meant about the Grapple Hook functionality from Prime was basically the ability to tear off parts of some specific things and to transfer energy in addition to swinging and sucking in power-ups.

Fire bombs sound fun, and I think having an ice area that requires them for some ice melting puzzles could be nice. Spider Ball + Fire bombs to make fire run along a wall would also be interesting. I am curious how they would activate though. Is it merely an upgrade to your bombs? Maybe a third type of bomb to toggle between? Something else entirely?

I don't know what Speed Ball does, so it's hard to make any suggestions. Depending on the control layout using a dash button or something similar for Speed Ball activation might work.

I don't know where anyone would get another Power Suit since the last one known to exist was destroyed in Metroid: Zero Mission. After that she was using the Fully Powered Suit until Fusion where it was destroyed and replaced with the Fusion Suit and then upgraded to the Fully Powered Fusion Suit. (Which is currently the only remaining Chozo battle armor to my knowledge.) Also, the Metroid DNA is within Samus herself and not just her suit. The only real differences between the current suit and any old ones are the arm spikes that give Power Grip automatically, and the ability to absorb X parasites. She overcame the extreme vulnerability to cold as long as she has the Varia. I do miss the shoulder pads though, maybe give a plausible explanation why those are back.

If your putting Spider Ball in the game you have to be much more careful. The level design will be a great deal more difficult with Spider Ball involved.

  4. Oh, and the other nice thing about the suit at the end of Fusion was that it was fully compatible with Galactic Federation downloads in addition to Chozo upgrades. In her previous suit the Galactic Federation had trouble making any modifications due to technological incompatibility. (Even in Metroid Prime 3 when she had the PED suit addition it was merely an exoskeleton on top of the suit, not fully integrated the way a weapon upgrade would have to be.) Being able to gain upgrades by stealing data from the Galactic Federation while she escapes would probably make a great deal of sense and would explain the new upgrades. (You could say her old upgrades were scattered when they removed her suit, but how could you explain the new stuff otherwise?)

  5. That just gave me an idea for a story to prehaps fit in with the suit >
Samus is flying back in her Fusion suit, she gets caught, loses her suit.

Somehow, she gains her original Power Suit (Not sure how yet), and she eventually gets all of them up to the Gravity Suit, all while on the run from the Galactic Federation.

Then, she acquires or steals the Hyper Suit from the Galactic Federation, perhaps powered from DNA from Samus and a Metroid to create a Super-Suit, since after her DNA changed in Fusion.

Then, while still on the run, the Hyper Suit can steal Upgrades from the Galactic Federation, like in Fusion, which Samus can use to hopefully defeat them...to gain a fully powered suit.
